Come learn rope tying at this low threshold workshop!

In this workshop, we learn the basics of rope tying at a beginner level through simple exercises. We reflect on our motivations for tying and what we want to experience when playing with ropes.

The workshop doesn’t require any previous experience. If you’re the one being tied up, we recommend stretchy and fitted clothing. We recommend bringing your own mat (e.g. a yoga mat) as we have limited mats. It’s a good idea to also take a water bottle with you. There are extra ropes available for those who don’t have their own.

The workshop is hosted by rope switch Chilihair, who runs Bizarre Club’s tie-meetups in Jyväskylä.

The workshop costs max 5€ per attendee, pay what you can! You can pay via Mobilepay or cash, if you have exact change.

The workshop has space for 20 attendees. You can come to the workshop alone or with a partner.

Sign up for the workshop by emailing chilihairbaby@gmail.com.

When participating in the workshop you agree to follow the principles of safer space:

– Strive to be aware of your own assumptions regarding an individual’s gender, sexual orientation, skin color, ethnicity, religion, other visible features, age, or speech, and strive to not act according to those assumptions

– Strive to acknowledge your own position of power and strive to not behave according to generalised norms regarding positions of power

– Do not minimize another person’s experience or knowledge

– Do not speak using discriminatory stereotypes or use discriminating terms regarding disability or health condition

– Respect others, give everyone space, and make sure that everyone is heard

– Do not make fun of or embarrass anyone based on their looks or kinks

– Do not make anyone feel less than for their knowledge or their interests

– The host has the right to intervene if there is a situation where someone behaves against these principles

– Feel free to contact Chili before, during, or after the workshop if there is something that is bothering you

Accessibility: The venue doesn’t have an accessible toilet. The space is located at ground level. The doors have small metallic thresholds. When exiting to the street, there is a lifting door that can be lifted via a switch on the left wall.

Come listen to an engaging conversation between Hannu Medina, the founder of the We Speak Gay -community, and Valtteri Lahti (Wanda O Rly), the COO of Psyon Games, a health game company operating in Jyväskylä. Hannu and Valtteri reflect on the ways queerness has been an asset for them in business and society and how people overall can react to visible queerness. Hannu and Valtteri also talk about the importance of queer communication and queer inclusivity for businesses’ and cities’ appeal and vitality. At the start of the event Hannu briefly introduces the concept of queer communication. This conversation will be a very open, personal, and honest one. You should definitely come watch!

Wanda O Rly (Valtteri Lahti) is a professional in the gaming industry, a performing artist, and an impressive speaker who just as naturally walks to both a Pride Festival -stage and a client meeting, wearing bold makeup and tall boots. Wanda strives to lead social change by their own example and works for causes that are important to them in the fields of both  business and culture. Wanda is a founding member and the COO of the health game company Psyon Games and the chairperson of Expa Game Business Cooperative, both of which operate in Jyväskylä.

Hannu Medina is an entrepreneur and the founder of Medina Helsinki Communications Oy, the We Speak Gay -community, and Queerland Media. For the last seven years Hannu has been training Finnish companies in responsible and visible queer communication, that aims to gain the business of the queer community. Hannu is a former heterosexual and was wedded to his Mexican husband Rauli in one of Finland’s first gay marriages on 1.3.2017.

Partners of the event: Jyväskylä Pride, Queerland Media, We Speak Gay Community, Wanda O Rly. Expa offers the space from the Digi & Game Center for this conversation.

“In butoh there is no discrimination.”

Ken Mai, butoh teacher and dancer

The contemporary dance and dance theater form butoh (butō, buto) can be described as the Dance of the Heart; it’s a chance to make one’s inner landscape visible and gently place oneself under the gaze. It’s seriously playful movement exploration and a chance to be seen and met as a whole, unique being. In butoh, every bodymind is beautiful, valuable and right just the way it is, as well as everyone’s way of moving and dancing.

In the beginner-friendly classes, we proceed at a leisurely pace and explore, for example, various experiential imagery exercises. Their purpose is to invite us to move effortlessly and to help us to find dance inspired by the moment; Dance of the Heart.

Are you interested in BDSM, fetishes, or other kinky things but are somewhat or completely new to them? A warm welcome to Jyväskylä’s kinky and BDSM -association Bizarre Club’s newcomers’ night! Signing up beforehand and buying a ticket from Bizarre Club’s ticket shop is required. Be fast as there is a limited number of tickets available!

Do you want to find out more information, ask, watch, listen to, or just get a feel for it – without the pressure to take part in anything? In that case, this newcomers’ night is the place for you. The night is meant especially for people who are new to the scene. You don’t need to understand much about the topic or know your own preferences to take part in this event. Curiosity is enough.

Low-threshold event:

  • Clothes stay on the whole night
  • No need to dress in any special way. You can if you want to though!
  • No need to take part in anything if you don’t want to.
  • Come alone, with a friend, or in a group.
  • No need to talk to anyone – but you can if you want to.
  • No need for experience or to know anything beforehand
  • No need to stress about whether you’re kinky enough, queer enough, or anything else. Come as you are.

The progression of the evening:

  1. The night starts with a casual info session while enjoying coffee and buns. We introduce the space, what this thing is all about, and go over some basic concepts.
  2. After the info session we divide up into small groups and participate in short and light workshops and conversations.
  3. Those who are interested can stay and hang out afterwards.

Some topics that are touched on in the workshops and conversations:

  • What is kinky party etiquette like? Are there some unwritten rules? What does it mean for play to be safe and consensual (SSC & RACK)? How to ask for consent, how to give it, and what does it comprehend?
  • What does it mean to have a power dynamic in adult play? What can it be and how to explore and practice it?
  • Doing light practices alone or with a pair around limiting movement with ropes (shibari).
  • What kinds of sensations come along with kinky play or BDSM? Caresses, tickles, pain, light, hard… How are physical sensations produced safely in adult play and why? Getting to know different tools.

If you want to, you can also just watch the workshops and conversations. The workshops’ exercises can be tried out alone, with a pair, or in a small group.

Who are hosting?

The night is hosted by Araneus, Chilihair, and Siphonite, three easily approachable, long-time participants in the kinky scene. They share their own experiences and explain kinky culture as experts by experience. We don’t know everything but we want to make the night a safe place to ask and ponder questions together.

Safety:

We follow the principles of a safer space. Concisely, this means:

  • Phones stay away the whole night. We don’t take pictures or videos.
  • We do not reveal the identities of the attendees or the events that took place after the event. Though, you can of course speak about your own experience.
  • Do not touch anyone without permission. Ask for permission and respect the answer be it positive or negative.
  • Strive to be aware of your own assumptions regarding an individual’s gender, sexual orientation, skin color, ethnicity, religion, other visible features, age, or speech, and strive to not act according to those assumptions.
  • Strive to acknowledge your own position of power and strive to not behave according to generalised norms regarding positions of power.
  • Do not minimize another person’s experience.
  • Do not speak using discriminatory stereotypes or use discriminating terms regarding disability or health condition.
  • Respect everyone’s personal space.
  • Do not make fun of, embarrass, or judge anyone based on their looks, kinks, or fetishes without permission.
  • Do not make anyone feel less than for their knowledge or their interests.
  • The hosts have the right to intervene if there is a situation where a person behaves against these principles and, if necessary, reserve the right to remove this person from the event venue.

Where and when?

Time: Wednesday 3rd of September, 6PM. Please arrive on time. The programme takes around two hours, after which you can freely hang out.

Place: Bizarre Club in Kanavuori, Jyväskylä. Varikkotie 91. Bus 143, bike, or other vehicles will get you there nicely. https://maps.app.goo.gl/H3io2qDRkeCcApw68

Welcome to butoh!

Attendees of Kinky Pride agree to follow the principles of a safer space:

– Strive to be aware of your own assumptions regarding an individual’s gender, sexual orientation, skin color, ethnicity, religion, other visible features, age, or speech, and strive to not act according to those assumptions.

– Strive to acknowledge your own position of power and strive to not behave according to generalised norms regarding positions of power.

– Do not minimize another person’s experience or knowledge

– Do not speak using discriminatory stereotypes or use discriminating terms regarding disability or health condition

– Respect others, give them space, and make sure that everyone is heard

– Do not make fun of, embarrass, or judge anyone based on their looks or kinks

– Do not make anyone feel less than for their knowledge or their interests

– The hosts have the right to intervene if there is a situation where a person behaves against these principles

– Feel free to contact bizarre@bizarreclub.fi before, during, or after the workshop if there is something that is bothering you

As a future sexual counsellor I am curious, present, and sincerely interested when meeting with a client. I have a degree as a psychiatric nurse and in my free time I am a queer burlesque performer. The themes of queerness and polyamory are close to my heart. I welcome everyone as my patients although I do work with children and teens. During my studies I have taken a special interest in fantasies and fetishes, various preferences, BDSM, diverse intimate relationships as well as pleasure and desire but you are welcome to also discuss other themes.

I am offering counseling during September at Jyväskylän SETA’s office at Matara. The exact times I am available can vary due to my job. I offer counseling during weekdays only.

You can contact me at sateenkaareva.stati@gmail.com. When booking, please inform me of your reasons for coming so that I am able to prepare for the appointment better. If you want to know more about me you can also find me on Instagram @sateenkaarevaseksitati. Do note that I don’t take bookings via my social media.

I am a trained community health nurse and I work at a child health center. I work with pregnant individuals and contraception. Additionally, I am studying to become a sexual counsellor.

I am especially interested in sexual pleasure, sexual wants and lack thereof. I’m also passionate about menstrual cycle awareness and cyclicality combined with pleasure and sexuality. I have read up on these topics in particular during my studies.

No need to hesitate, just message me and we can find a time for an online appointment. You can also shoot me a message if you’re not sure about an appointment yet but you have something you want to ask.
